In this project, I create various effects in Houdini(Ground fracturing, smoke, dust, and lightning) and comp them with real shot background footage. I have done the camera tracking in Nuke and export the tracking camera to Houdini. For the RBD simulation, my goal is to have various sizes of fractures(the smaller the closer to the hit point) and the sudden impact feeling. For the pyro simulation, I customized smoke solver to create greater details. The main challenge of this project is how to match lighting and material between CG elements and footage. I set up lighting and created some geometries to cast a shadow on the ground, which based on the real shot footage.
